This Week in Sex

Last Saturday porn performer Stoya took to twitter to accuse her ex-boyfriend and fellow porn performer, James Deen, of violently raping her.

This news was hugely upsetting to many porn consumers, especially women, as Deen has over the years been hailed as a "feminist" porn icon. Other female co-stars have since come forward, and Deen has subsequently resigned from his role as the chairperson on the Adult Performers' Advocacy Committee's board of directors. Many porn studios and affiliates have cut ties with him.

On Monday night Claire Byrne Live hosted a debate about sex work featuring Kate McGrew and nearly the entire cast of Turn Off the Red & Ruhama. You can watch the programme on the RTE Player. You can also read about current and proposed sexual offences laws in an earlier blog post.

Over on the Stuff Mom Never Told You podcast, Cristen and Caroline talk about all things ANAL SEX. They explore everything from social acceptance, pressure, and taboo to STI's and how to reduce pain and discomfort.

On Monday the Irish Independent published an article regarding Fine Gael's fears that "efforts to repeal the Eighth Amendment ... could pave the way for 'abortion on demand'." My feelings on the subject can be summed up in 1 sentence: Whether or not you believe abortion is wrong, we can all agree that healthcare is a very complex area, and cannot be summed up in 1 sentence. This is why it needs to be out of our constitutions.  I think it's also important to note that every single person quoted in the article is male.
