Lovely designs: Homewares, Sex Toys, and Erotic Films

Loads of exciting things happening lately in Sex Siopa world! Our friends over at Designist have started a collaboration with home-wares designers Klickity and held a lovely, wine-filled launch on Tuesday. As all Klickity products were 10% off, I couldn't resist picking up this sweet egg block, which will be used primarily to display sex toys on...as you do.

Last week I got a pressie in the post from acclaimed erotic film director, Erika Lust. It was a collection of her latest short films called Xconfessions (watch the trailer here). Erika created the Xconfessions site where anyone can anonymously post their sex stories and fantasies, and every month she picks her favourite and shoots her own artistic interpretation of it. Erika's films have got 2 very powerful elements going for them: high production values; and genuine, realistic depictions of the way people fuck each other.

While I do sometimes enjoy ridiculous, cheesy mainstream porn, I also have a big problem with the way women are portrayed in a lot of it. There's something hugely lacking, the biggest thing being portrayals of actual female pleasure. If I can't picture myself getting off in that scene, I find it difficult to get off in real life. Erika's films have incredible variety in the ways people have sex, but everyone always gets off. It's lovely, hot and sadly quite novel.

And finally this week, I've gotten in 2 new products that I'm really excited about. The first is Frolic lubricant, a water based, glycerin free lubricant. It's lovely and silky and safe to use with both toys and condoms. The best bit is it comes in a 100ml pump bottle, so you can throw it into your carry-on luggage or overnight bag this summer!

The second is the Iroha mini vibe by Tenga, who snagged themselves a Red Dot Design Award for their men's masturbation range, Tenga 3D, and now have decided to try their hand at designing women's toys. I read mixed reviews about the original Iroha range, but when I saw that they had brought out a cute, affordable mini version I knew I had to give it a go.

I was delighted to find it was stronger than many mini vibes, and gives you up to 5 hours of usage on just 1 AAA battery. Now it obviously wouldn't be anywhere near as strong as our bigger, rechargeable vibrators, but as a gift for someone who's never tried a toy or something to throw into goody bags for a hen party, it's perfect (and adorable)!Like our Tantus Little Secrets, the Iroha mini is also waterproof, making it super easy to clean.
